Christmas 2015!

This past Christmas was one of the best. Having Austyn makes it so much fun! We tried our hardest to make the most of the Christmas season this year. We made gingerbread houses, went on lots of drives to look at lights, went to temple square, and saw the lights at the Ogden Christmas Village.

On Christmas Eve we always go out to dinner with my family. Usually at Goodwood BBQ. Yum!

We ended the night coming back to our house and had a nice spiritual thought, ate ice cream and brownies, and opened a couple Christmas presents. My mom got Austyn her probably most used Christmas present some race cars! We have played with those cars so dang much. It was a wonderful evening.

On Christmas morning David and I woke up about 7:30 and we were just to excited to wait for Austyn to get up so we woke her up. She was pretty groggy but once we told here there were presents she ran to the living room. We had so much fun watching her open presents. She was so happy. Austyn got some clothes and books, a new doll, a dinosaur and a truck. It was a perfect morning.

My parents came over that morning and Austyn couldn't wait to show off all of her toys. Then we all went over to my Grandpa Creager's for a Christmas lunch. After our first lunch we went to David's families and had lunch number 2 and played some fun games with Jake and Hailey.

Then we headed to Thomas and Dani's to say hello. Austyn was so excited to see baby Hadlee!

Then it was back home and we got to spend some time with Grandpa Scott and Michelle. We opened more presents and had a great visit.

Christmas was amazing this year. Austyn just made things so fun and it was great being able to see so much family on Christmas Day. I normally am really really sad when Christmas is over but this year I have something else to focus my attention on. Our new baby! 2016 is going to be a great year!

Broken Leg

*note- I've been trying to write this blog post for weeks but our computer gave out! Just got a new one though so I finally can finish it!*

On December 5th my parents were in a car accident! They hit a deer on I-84. My dad was fine but unfortunately my mom had her feet on the dashboard and the airbags went off which caused her to hurt her leg badly. My poor mom was in excruciating pain and had to take an ambulance to the hospital. After x-rays and a CT scan the doctor told her she had a broken leg. The specific fracture is called a tibial plateau fracture. She not only broke the bone but crushed it pretty badly as well.

I got the call about the accident while I was at work which was terrible since I didn't get off until 11 that night. As soon as I could I rushed to the hospital. They wanted my mom to try to go home and have surgery at a later date once the swelling went down. She was just in so much pain it wasn't possible. Austyn was so concerned about grandma the whole time which was so sweet. 

Emergency Room:

They ended up checking my mom into the hospital and scheduled surgery for the next Tuesday. The surgery went really well! They put several screws in her leg putting everything back together.

After her surgery she met with the physical therapist a few times so they could be sure she was ready to go home. She was still in so much pain and it was very hard for her to walk with her crutches especially going upstairs but she worked so hard and did so well. 

She was finally able to come home the day after her surgery and has been doing great! She had a doctors appointment a couple weeks after surgery. They did x-rays and took her staples out. The doctor said she is healing well!

I know this has been hard for her. She doesn't let on to much and has had a great attitude but I can tell its been tough. She does better every day though! As I'm writing this it has almost been a month. She gets around well on her crutches, she can bend her leg but no putting weight on it. She goes back to work today after a 4 week break so hopefully that goes well.  I have to mention my dad too. He had been phenomenal taking care of her. Hopefully she continues to heal quickly and can be back to her old self!

It's Christmas Time!

Honestly my favorite part about Thanksgiving is that the next day you can officially start celebrating Christmas without people hating you. I LOVE Christmas. I am sooo glad it is Christmastime!

Me and David both had the day after Thanksgiving off. We had no desire to do any shopping so we devoted the day to Christmas. We got up, put on some Christmas music, made some cinnamon rolls for breakfast and put up our tree and our decorations.

Later that day we made gingerbread houses! Austyn had a lot of fun and made a huge mess.

We went for a wonderful drive that night to look for Christmas lights. Austyn loved to point them out. We came home to our beautiful Christmas tree. We have decided to start a new tradition for our kids this year. We are going to kick off the Christmas season with a couple gifts. Some Christmas jammies to wear all season and a book about Jesus to remind us what Christmas is all about. Austyn saw the presents under the tree as soon as we walked through the door and wasted no time in opening them.

We had such a fun day celebrating the Christmas season. We are going to try to make the most of it because it goes by so fast.

Thanksgiving

This year on Thanksgiving I started the day by going to work at the assisted living I work at. It really isn't to bad working on Thanksgiving. It was fun to see all the residents go out with their families. Afterwards I met up with David and Austyn at David's Mom's. We had so much fun eating and laughing and playing. My favorite part was watching Austyn have so much fun with her cousin Henry! It was a great Thanksgiving.
